Penny has become much more mobile this last month and pulls up on everything. Also, she has become increasingly bossy about food. My parents took me out for ice cream on my birthday and Penny spent the whole time demanding everyone's ice cream. At one point she had 4 sample spoons in her chubby fists and was trying to climb out of my arms and through the glass to get to the ice cream.
For a girl who loves to eat, she is a tiny little thing. Her pediatrician told me I need to feed her more and give her higher calorie foods (boy do I wish that was my problem!) Poor girl probably has my genes: skinny as a baby when its cute to be cubby and chubby as an adult when it's cute to be skinny.
I've been working on my sewing skills lately and made Penny a few dresses. Penny actually stayed in one place long enough for me to get a few pictures of her wearing my latest creation. Try not to look too close, I am just learning! More importantly, check out her cute little curls!

It is no secret that Penny prefers her daddy! "Daddy" is Penny's 2nd word (her first was "bye, bye"). Penny also like to babble conversations with us and when she is upset or sad she will pathetically mumble, "wee wee wee wee."
Stop getting so big Penny!

Penny And The Kitty from Lindsay Himmer on Vimeo.
Penny loves the cat at Grandma's house (named Business). She tries to chase him but he is much too fast so she loves it when we help her catch and pet him. Penny has such a cute little nervous laugh whenever she sees and pets the kitty. We are trying to teach Penny to be soft and nice to Business and other animals. If we would let her, Penny would terrorize that poor cat. Aunt Sydney is holding Penny's leg in this video so she can't kick the kitty. Thankfully, Business doesn't seem to mind when Penny is a little rough and has been nothing but gentle with her.

I wish I had an in-house photographer to catch all of Penny's "firsts" and cute little expressions. My photography skills are seriously lacking and it doesn't help that I use my phone as my main camera. So please be forgiving of all the blurry iphone photos on my blog. If I didn't use these photos I would never update my blog.
Ever since Penny finally mastered pulling up on the bars of her crib, she has been hard at work finding new places to stand.
So far she has found:
Then the wall
The fireplace (which terrified me! I thought for sure she would slip and split her chin open)
And my personal favorite:
Penny climbed into the laundry basket. It was almost nap time so she tried to make herself comfortable. She sucks on her pointer fingers when she is tired or upset. She became pretty upset a few moments later when she couldn't get out of the basket.
In other Penny news, Penny said her first word!! "Bye-bye" I am constantly coaxing her to wave and repeat "bye-bye" dozens of times and one of those times Penny repeated me and said, "bye-bye!" I wish Andrew could have been there to hear her!
Penny's first birthday is coming up in less than 2 months. How did that happen so quickly??
